My Background

Welcome to the Mamapologist!

Hi! I’m the Mamapologist!

Who am is the Mamapologist?

I’m a mama and apologist – hence Mamapologist!

I think teaching our children to defend our faith is the highest priority of any Christian parent. Our children are walking away from faith at record rates because they are not being taught the ways that our faith is compatible with science, supported by history, and explains reality.

My name is Jennifer. I am the wife of an Army veteran. He retired a couple years ago from active service. I was a full-time high school English and social studies teacher for seventeen years. I’ve taught world history, U.S. history, women in history, sociology, creative writing, modern novels, and all levels and abilities of English courses.

I committed my life to Christ when I was six years old and again more seriously around 11-12 years ago. Raised in the church by two Christian parents, I always knew God was real and that Jesus loved me.

During high school and college, doubt and sin ( and some personal trauma) drew me away from walking as a committed Christian. But I was never quite able to relinquish a belief in God completely. Even when I tried living as just a “good person”, I couldn’t shake God. I had several experiences of His presence that kept reminding me that I belonged to Him.

God never let me go.

One was a moment so powerful, I haven’t even written about it. It was like a searing white light inside my head and I felt God’s holy presence with me. He reminded me that my very life had been His providence from the beginning. I fell to the floor, instantly weeping and mourning for my sin and rebelliousness.

While that moment was not an instant total turnaround for this prodigal child, it was definitely what started my journey back to walking with God.

Another part was seeing how God walked alongside us in our adoption journey. It’s a long story, but every time we hit a wall and thought we’d never adopt, God showed up. When I submitted to His will and His timing, He opened the next door over and over.

I started staying home after our last change of station to enjoy my daughter’s preschool years, but the decision to homeschool was an easy one once both my husband and I had come to the same conclusion totally separately!

Then about five years ago, an atheist close to me began trying to chip away at my faith. Argument after argument, my favorite atheist brought up objections to the Bible, God, and everything I thought I knew.

I wasn’t sure how to respond, but I knew somewhere there were people who studied whether the Bible is true.

I had heard some simple apologetics arguments at summer camp one year early in high school. At the time, they confirmed my already strong faith, but when my faith wavered and waned, I started seeking Apologetics

Apologetics brought me into a deeper walk with God than I ever imagined.

And I want to teach my daughter the rich faith that I’ve found so she is equipped to face the harsh realities of the world in a way that I was not.

I’ve been studying apologetics ever since. My reading lists contains shelves of books I’ve read and an even larger stack to read looming. I’ve listened to thousands of hours of sermons, podcasts, and teaching. On a normal day, I’m doing at least 2-3 hours of studying in some form or another.

But I’m still very new to apologetics as the author. While I’ve been blogging for several years, apologetics is a different kind of ball game. I want to make sure every post is as thorough as can be. I spend hours, sometimes weeks researching before even starting to write my posts. And I’m sure I’ll grow as I go.

I’m still working on getting this site to where I really want it to be, but I felt like God was calling me to step out in obedience to begin to build this site. And I knew if I didn’t do it right away, I might procrastinate longer than I should.

If you’ve stuck around this long, welcome to the Mamapologist!

Here, I hope to take the apologetics concepts I’ve learned and make them accessible for busy moms (or other concerned Christians) to understand and be able to teach the next generation.

While I am working on some more content, I wanted to have a few posts for visitors since I have a few social media channels up and running. I can’t wait to have some thoughtful articles here for you.

I hope you’ll follow me on social media and join me in exploring Christianity together. Find me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Parler.
